Harlem Capoeira Fitness is a community-based organization that has been in practice for almost a decade and offers classes at two different locations in Harlem, the Wadleigh Secondary School for Performing Arts at 215 West 114th Street and the Harlem YMCA at 180 West 135th Street. Capoeira is a Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, sports, and music. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power kicks and quick leg sweeps, with some ground and aerial acrobatics, knee strikes, take-downs, elbow strikes, punches and headbutts.
